Alliance for Girls is actively seeking an experienced and proactive Program Associate to serve as an integral team member by supporting the Deputy Director, coordinating program operations and managing a range of administrative duties for the programs team. Our ideal candidate has excellent verbal and written communication skills, is detail-oriented, and enjoys maintaining and supporting the systems that serve as the engine for AFG’s mission-driven impact.

As an alliance, our program takes a facilitator and convenor role in the girl-serving sector. Facilitating Advocacy is a critical service we provide to our members who need support to effectively advocate for girls' needs and girls' organizations.

Programs Associate Position Overview

The Program Associate is primarily responsible for smooth and efficient support of the Deputy Director’s office and activities, and the coordination of AFG’s program administrative functions. This includes updating and maintaining program policies, files, and tools. In addition, the Programs Associate directly assists the Deputy Director by scheduling appointments, managing the DD’s calendar, drafting correspondence, and by the preparation of regularly scheduled reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

Executive Administration (50%)

  • Manage Deputy Director’s (DD) contact database and general calendar.

  • Support and track the DD’s correspondence with AFG’s donors, member organizations, partners, government officials, and AFG Board members where appropriate

  • Attend key meetings with the DD to take notes and capture action items

  • Support the AFG’s programs grantmaking process in partnership with the Executive Assistant

Programs Administration (50%)

  • Coordinate and lead AFG’s program administrative functions including updating and maintaining AFG program policies, protocols, and general files

  • Organize, update and secure AFG’s Programs Google Drive and Asana documents

  • Participate in and take notes during programs team meetings

  • Support program event logistics including developing event registration forms, securing a venue for in-person events, or setting up zoom or webinar for virtual events, updating and disseminating necessary information, documents, and materials to event participants before, during and after an event or activity, updating the staff calendar with programs events and activities, and other administrative tasks as needed

  • Exhibit professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail

  • Support programs team members by providing information and practical solutions to logistical and administrative issues

  • Contribute to programs team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed

Skills and Qualifications

  • Exceptional writing and relationship management skills

  • Superior organizational skills including the ability to effectively manage and follow-up on emails, tasks with competing timelines, and managing

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage processes and solve problems

  • Ability to analyze Information and create solutions

  • Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Certificate or BA in Business Administration, or comparable work experience is a plus

  • Strong computer skills with expertise in G-Suite and Microsoft Office; Survey Monkey, Canva, and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is required

  • Knowledge of project and task management tools such as Asana, Basecamp, Trello and Smart sheet

The Programs Associate reports to the Deputy Director. Anticipated start-time: July 15, 2022.

Benefits and Salary: AFG is an equal opportunity employer. We offer a competitive benefits package and salary commensurate with experience. Depending on the experience and skills a candidate brings to the position, the pay range for this position is $25-$27 per hour. This is a full time position (40 hours per week). Our competitive benefits package includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% coverage of premiums

  • 34 days of paid vacation and sick days: 10 days vacation, 10 sick/wellness days, national holidays, and the week between Christmas and New Years Day.

  • 4.5 day work week with half day Fridays (we typically close by noon)

  • Flexible schedule (some staff work from 7 am - 3 pm) and hybrid work model

  • $50 wellness stipend per month

  • $50 cellphone and technology use stipend per month

  • $500 for professional development per year
