Program Coordinator

Position reports to: National Program Manager  

Location: The CA Program Coordinator is based out of the South  Bay, CA. At this time, the program coordinator works from home however, this candidate should be  comfortable working in person with our partners and interns while observing COVID-19 safety  protocols and maintaining social distancing. 

Job Description  
Work closely with staff, schools, participants, parents, volunteers and STEM CREW to implement  Girlstart’s Satellite After School and Summer Camp Programs. Support program team in planning,  organizing and executing Girlstart programs. Foster and maintain meaningful relationships with  districts, school administration, teachers, parents and other community organizations to accomplish  organizational and program goals.  

After School Program 

  • Oversee Girlstart After School Program logistics and implementation 
  • Maintain successful relationships with schools 
  • Support After School outcomes  
  • Act as liaison between school administration, campus coordinators, STEM CREW, and Girlstart
  • Support National Program Manager with STEM CREW interviewing and hiring
  • Oversee STEM CREW recruitment including creating & updating job postings, attending career  fairs, and building relationships with university partners as needed 
  • Help National Program Manager with STEM CREW bimonthly payroll 
  • Coordinate and deliver STEM CREW trainings and other trainings as needed • Coordinate the creation, transmission and collection of curriculum materials to STEM CREW  • Oversee new and returning STEM CREW onboarding paperwork  
  • Create STEM CREW schedules, document any changes regarding office hours or club, and  place substitutes as needed 
  • Manage STEM CREW office hours, task list, materials prep list, and lesson fidelity  • Oversee and manage Campus Coordinator communication, documentation, stipends, thank  yous, etc. 
  • Maintain participant registration forms, attendance, and survey results 
  • Responsible for providing guidance to After School partners regarding program participant  recruitment and retention, may include but not limited to hosting recruitment assemblies  • Facilitate after school programs as needed 

Summer Camp Program 

  • Organize logistics and implementation for Girlstart Summer Camp in the South Bay area,  including MOU's, registration forms, marketing pieces, prep, shipments, registration forms and  surveys, shirts mailed, etc. 
  • Support Summer Camp & National Program Manager with STEM CREW training including  organizing training packets, participating, asking STEM CREW questions, etc.
  • Facilitate day-to-day partner location communication including registration forms, reminders,  schedules, etc. 
  • Act as liaison between partner locations, STEM CREW and Girlstart 
  • Responsible for STEM CREW supervisor and guidance throughout the summer  • Accountable for Summer Camp outcomes 
  • Maintain participant registration forms, parent communication (including confirmations,  reminders, follow up emails/letters), attendance, survey results, photos, etc 
  • Lead camp and serve as Girlstart representative in the South Bay area 

Overall Program Support  

  • Support Girlstart’s general facilities maintenance, including but not limited to tidying the office  and general supplies/materials organization, inventorying, and purchasing 
  • Support Director of Volunteers and Community Relations regarding volunteer needs as needed
  • Support team management, including overseeing program assistants/fellows, updating the  STEM CREW task list, and supervising STEM CREW office hours as needed 
  • Brainstorm and research fun, hands-on STEM related activities 
  • Support media relations as needed 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience in youth programming or informal STEM education • Minimum of two years of experience and proven success in planning and implementing quality  programming for youth 
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, train, and coach college age youth 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Positive, friendly, flexible and outgoing 
  • Effective organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively  • Self-motivated with the ability to work as a team player and foster cooperative work  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and deliverables  
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and a commitment to the mission of Girlstart • Reliable, dependable, and timely 
  • Knowledge of educational learning standards and experience creating youth serving curriculum  preferred  
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends, when needed

Classification: Part-time (25-30hr/week), nonexempt  
Hourly rate: $17-$21/hour depending on experience
