Alliance for Girls* is excited to launch the first comprehensive Girls Policy Agenda of its kind for the Bay Area and California, with a focus on girls' most urgent needs. We’ve hosted town halls in Santa Clara, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties to inform our policy advocacy, and have heard from 140+ elected officials, girls, male-identified allies, parents, and other girls' champions. With the leadership of our Advocacy Committee, we have now narrowed our focus on these main efforts:

  • Enhance safety on public transportation for girls
  • Increase access to stigma-free support for young mothers
  • State funding to meet girls' needs
  • Participatory decision-making in government agencies that center girls’ voices

We are making significant progress on many of these items, and are working with BART and Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, among others.

Now is the time for us to come together to review the drafted Girls Policy Agenda and hear your feedback, before we finalize it for official release.

Join us for a community report back meeting co-hosted by CARAS, a member of our Advocacy Committee and social services agency in South Santa Clara County, to learn more, get detailed updates, and get involved. CARAS will also share updates on their advocacy in South County.

About CARAS:

CARAS (Community Agency for Resources, Advocacy and Services) is committed to the empowerment of the community and betterment of Latino families through the development of leadership, advocacy, and cultural awareness.
