Alliance for Girls’ Founding Executive Director Emma Mayerson is launching the White Executive Directors Anti-Racism Learning Circle for Alliance for Girls members. This learning circle will be facilitated by Laura Eberly, Founding Director of Mountaintop Coaching & Consulting and a former Alliance member who has led several successful anti-racism trainings for our community in the past.

In this learning circle, Laura will facilitate a brave space through which the group can engage in critical dialogue and grapple with what it means to lead anti-racist organizations as white executive directors. Goals include:

  • Recognizing and reorienting to our conditioning as white people
  • Finding ways to interrupt white supremacy culture within ourselves and our organizations
  • Connecting the dots from the personal to the systemic.

Along with curated articles and resources, each session will provide opportunities for self-reflection, shared processing and problem solving, and skill sharing on topics like supervision, strategic planning, and accountability.

*A note on whiteness: This learning circle invites participants who identify as white or who experience white privilege, and it will be led by a queer white woman. Affinity groups like this are a strategy for white people to do the work that is uniquely ours to do in dismantling white supremacy within ourselves and our spaces. We will rely on the writings and teachings of anti-racist leaders of color for guidance, while relying on other white people to make space for our learning, mistakes, and growing process. This is part of taking responsibility for ourselves and one another.

About the Facilitator

Laura Eberly

Founding Director

Mountaintop Coaching & Consulting

Laura is a facilitator and healer with ten years’ experience building people power and creating spaces for collective healing and liberation. Her work is deeply rooted in the belief that movements are as powerful, transformative, and liberatory as their practices and their people.

From her background as a social worker, Laura has a strengths-based coaching practice and thrives on creating compassionate, honest spaces that foster growth, real relationship, and sustainable change. She holds a BA and MSW from the University of Chicago and a Certificate of Anglican Studies from Church Divinity School of the Pacific. She is a proud alum of Catalyst Project’s Anne Braden Anti-Racist Organizing Training.

Laura is a queer white person on a journey to undo her own racism, and knows her life is richer and freer and more deeply faithful for having taken steps on this journey. It is lifegiving for her to support others who want to do the same.
