As girls*’ service providers, educators, and champions, we find ourselves grappling with a myriad of questions and challenges intensified by COVID-19 and physical distancing measures, including:

  • How do we reach girls who have limited to no access to internet and/or a safe space?
  • How do we design virtual experiences that are engaging and fun and respond to intersectional identities of girls and gender-expansive youth?
  • How can we continue to promote girls’ safety, leadership, and sense of belonging amid COVID-19?
  • What can we learn from each other and especially from those who are supporting girls most marginalized by COVID-19 and physical distancing?

We’re excited to launch a new experiential workshop series, Effective Practices for Supporting Girls* Virtually, that will address these questions and highlight exciting and thoughtful ways girls’ organizations are innovating amid COVID-19 and other issues heightened by the pandemic. We’ll hear about challenges and successes from four incredible organizations working with girls and gender-expansive youth who have been particularly impacted by COVID-19, learn effective ways to reach and support girls, and have opportunities to experience best practices and start applying them to our work with girls.

You'll leave with greater awareness of the ways different groups of girls are experiencing COVID-19 and access to virtual learning, tangible tools for youth outreach and engagement, and a renewed sense of hope and community.
