In recent years, there has been a significant influx of presence, awareness, change, and visibility within the topics of sexuality, gender identity and gender expression. As champions of girls and young women who are cisgender, transgender, non binary, and gender non-conforming, it is important for us to understand, practice, and implement measures to support them in exploring and honoring their gender identities and sexualities so that they can have agency and become powerful individuals.

Join us for a timely, new workshop series on Sexual Orientiation, Gender Identity, and Expression (SOGIE) Affirming Approaches and Expansive Practices, in partnership with Alliance member One Circle Foundation and led by their Associate Director Kiku Johnson.

This hands-on, minds-on, highly interactive workshop series will provide:

  • A detailed guide to introduce and expand your understanding and knowledge of concepts, terminology and definitions

  • An affirming approach and expansive practices for supporting work with, responding to, and creating safety for all youth along the SOGIE spectra, with engagement on intersectionality, allyship, and bias

  • Opportunities to practice and apply these learnings with fellow participants, and learn together

  • Technical assistance to support introduction, navigation, and implementation in your organizations and/or personal relationships with young people and colleagues

  • A closing digital workshop to touch base, debrief, and share effective practices

This workshop series aims to provide a safe space for all advocates and educators of young people interested in developing and strengthening fluency in the SOGIE spectra. We understand participants will have different access and starting points dependent on level of exposure and knowledge.
