Join us on Tuesday, February 18th, for our annual Members Meeting, one of Alliance for Girls' hallmark events where more than 100 members of AFG (including service providers, community leaders, parents, girls, and other girls' champions) come together to learn from one another and inform the direction of the Alliance.

This year marks significant growth for Alliance for Girls, and we're excited to share updates on what's happening and work together to realize our collective vision to advance equity for girls*. At the members meeting, we'll:

  • Get a sneak peak of our upcoming report that elevates the expertise of girls, girls' champions, and caregivers to redefine what radical safety and promising practices actually look like from the ground up.
  • Engage in the final phase of the #GirlsPolicyAgenda before it is officially launched in March.
  • Learn about our schedule of workshops for 2020 and other opportunities.

Joining us as the keynote speaker is:

Elmy Bermejo
Regional Director of Northern California
Office of the Governor of California

Elmy Bermejo is the Regional Director of Northern California for the Office of Governor Gavin Newsom. Elmy has been a senior government official for more than 25 years, with deep relationships with Congress, the Executive Branch, federal, state, and local government. She has successfully collaborated with private and public stakeholders on a wide range of issues including immigration, paid leave, discrimination in pay, healthcare, and small business. Elmy recently served as Senior Adviser and Outreach Director for Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis, the first woman ever elected to this position in California. She previously served in President Barack Obama’s Administration as the Regional Representative for the Secretary of Labor in the Western United States and as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs in Washington, D.C.

Elmy is currently the President of the San Francisco Commission on the Environment, serves on the boards of The Beneficial State Foundation and the Women's Foundation of California, and is an Advisory Member of Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE). She is also a founding member of the Emily’s List Latina Advisory Council and EMERGE, an organization that trains Democratic Women to run for local office. She is a recipient of the Dolores Huerta Woman of Courage Award from the US Hispanic Leadership Institute.

We look forward to hearing Elmy discuss how Governor Newsom is prioritizing girls* and gender expansive youth and share lessons learned that we can leverage to pass pro-girl policies.

We'll also be hearing from other incredible leaders in the field and connecting with one another over a catered networking lunch and interactive sessions.
