Alliance for Girls* is excited to launch the first comprehensive Girls Policy Agenda of its kind for the Bay Area and California, with a focus on girls' most urgent needs. We’ve hosted town halls in Santa Clara, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties to inform our policy advocacy, and have heard from 140+ elected officials, girls, male-identified allies, parents, and other girls' champions. With the leadership of our Advocacy Committee, we have now narrowed our focus on these main efforts:

  • Enhance safety on public transportation for girls
  • Increase access to stigma-free support for young mothers
  • State funding to meet girls' needs
  • Participatory decision-making in government agencies that center girls’ voices

We are making significant progress on many of these items and have an opportunity to enhance safety for girls on BART.

Join us for a critical opportunity to show up for girls by giving public comment, and support our resolution to establish a gender equity action plan to enhance safety for girls and gender expansive youth on BART.

This is a major step towards making public transit safer for girls. We need your help to make sure it passes. Please come and give a 2-minute public comment in support of this resolution. We need a strong youth and community presence to show that safety for girls on public transit matters to our community!

If you have any questions or accommodation needs, please contact Haleema at haleema@alliance4girls.org. We'll make every effort to provide them.

*“Girls” refers to gender-expansive youth (cis girls, trans girls, non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth, gender queer youth and any girl-identified youth).
